America’s largest healthcare union, 1199SEIU, New York State Senator Leroy Comrie, Michael Balboni, Minister Damarys Butler, will hold a press conference to oppose the New York State Department of Health’s (DOH) $250 million cut to nursing homes that is expected to go into effect on November 6, 2019.

The speakers will be joined by 1199SEIU members, Francis Jean, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Scott Amazon, Dietary Delegate at Hillside Manor Rehabilitation & Extended Care Center, LLC, who will all express their opposition to the draconian cuts that will jeopardize health care jobs and quality of care in nursing homes. Over 600 nursing homes throughout the State will see a loss of funding when they are already operating in negative margins.
