Mental Health First Aid

Similar to physical first aid and CPR, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance abuse crisis, and provide support during non-crisis situations.

What Does Training Cover?

• Common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance abuse challenges
• A five-step action plan to help people get the care they need in their community
• How to interact with a person in crisis
• Expanded content on trauma, substance abuse and self-care

How Can Training Help Your Community?

Mental health disorders can affect performance at work and school, and harm families and personal relationships. They also increase the risk of other diseases. Addressing these issues, and learning more about them, can help us relate to other people, handle stress better, and make healthier choices.

Our advocates have been certified to teach MHFA by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. The Healthcare Education Project can facilitate a Mental Health First Aid training at your church, school, community center, and other organizations.
