For more than 25 years, GNYHA and 1199SEIU have developed and maintained a unique labor-management relationship called the Healthcare Education Project (HEP). Since its inception, HEP has been at the forefront of healthcare reform and has time and again helped ensure the continued delivery of high-quality healthcare to all New Yorkers.
Today we are proud to announce a leadership transition at HEP. Kirk Adams has served as HEP’s Executive Director for the last 10 years. During Kirk’s tenure, HEP has repeatedly improved New York’s healthcare delivery system while also expanding its voice and activities to Washington. Now Kirk’s longtime Deputy Director David Collymore will succeed him as HEP’s Executive Director. David will oversee executive decisions on budget, staff, and strategies, and represent HEP in its external relations. Kirk will transition to a senior advisor role with a focus on overall HEP strategies and federal healthcare funding policies.
This transition lays out a long-term leadership plan for HEP while preserving the experience and stability that Kirk and David have long provided. We are deeply grateful to Kirk for his decade of leadership and service, and we are confident that David has the experience, policy knowledge, and skills to effectively lead HEP into the future.
